The February meeting was held at UNUM’s Fitness Center on Tuesday, February 17.

1998 Meet Schedule

The following 1998 meet schedule was unanimously endorsed:

Regular Meet Wednesday, May 20

Regular Meet Wednesday, June 3

Regular Meet Wednesday, June 17

NE Regionals Saturday, June 27

States Championship Sunday, July 12

Larry gave a brief report that 2 companies had received packets - Olympia Sports and the State Department of Human Resources.

Tom stated that Bill Whelan of L.L Bean had expressed an interest and should be contacted.

Cheryl gave Larry two recruitments to follow up on – Underwater Technologies (UWATEC), Brian Carney contact and Maine General Health, Milt Dudley contact.

Tom would like a statement to appear in next month’s minutes that anyone proposing a merger of teams to clear that through Cheryl Gilbert.

In the March meeting we will settle this issue after telling team captains that all mergers must be approved before the season starts.

Minutes

We discussed how to improve the timely distribution of minutes. Once the minutes are completed Peter has the ability to place them on the WEB site for all to view.

Tax Exempt Status

Irene has been asked to help set up MECTA as a tax-exempt organization. This should be completed before we proceed in investing our funds currently at UNUM into a higher growth option.

Fees

It was decided unanimously that MECTA would repeat the 1997 fee schedule for the 1998 season.

Next Meeting

All Captains should bring their proposed list of events to the March 17^th meeting.
